Neurological Rehab

Our program utilizes a interdisciplinary approach to  improve function, reduce symptoms and improve the well-being of patients who have suffered with a neurological event such as stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury, or patients suffering with a progressive neurological disease such as Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis.  Different environments and treatment parameters may be utilized to address limitations.  We offer the following specialty programs:

  • Wheelchair Evaluations
  • Aquatic Therapy
  • LSVT Big and Loud Programs for individuals with Parkinsons

Our interdisciplinary team consists of the following disciplines:

Physical Therapy Services will work towards obtaining goals related to:

  • Mobility (movement)
  • Strength
  • Range of motion
  • Normalizing muscle tone
  • Increasing independence
  • Posture
  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Walking
  • Endurance
  • Pain

Occupational Therapy Services will work towards obtaining goals related to:

  • Use of arm or arms (movement, strength, sensory deficits, abnormal neuromuscular status) during daily tasks
  • Writing
  • Use of hands with purposeful manipulation of objects
  • Coordination
  • Improving self-help skills such as dressing, feeding, personal hygiene, cooking and homecare
  • Return to work or leisure skills
  • Adaptation of environment
  • Wheelchair and seating

Speech Therapy Services will focus on obtaining goals related to:

  • Dysarthria (difficulty articulating)
  • Apraxia of Speech (difficulty planning movements for speech)
  • Receptive and Expressive Aphasia
  • Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties)
  • Cognitive (thinking, memory and learning) deficits
  • Voice disorders
  • Fluency disorders
